Stump Grinding vs. Stump Removal

Grinding uses a machine to shred the stump down below ground level, leaving the roots to decompose naturally. It's fast, less disruptive, and works for most residential yards.

The result is a shallow hole filled with wood chips, which you can cover, plant over, or leave to settle.

Full removal pulls the entire stump and its major root ball out of the ground. It leaves a larger hole and requires more labor and equipment, but it takes the root system entirely.
